RAIN DEER - My nicest buck to date. I took this 10pnt Star City Whitetail- 11/22 2005. I slept in that morning because of a steady rain, but about 8:30am I couldn't take it anymore. I put on my rain gear and decided to just stalk the woods slowly. After about an hour into the hunt, this buck & I made eye contact at the same time. He was about 30 yards away from me when we saw each other, he turned and bolted. My heart sank thinking he was gone. He only ran 50 yards and started moving slowly up the mountain through some thick laurel. I could see his rack, so I walked parallel to him up the mountain. He then disappeared or so I thought, as I stood there again my heart sank. As my eyes scanned the woods I noticed him standing, looking dead at me in an opening in the laurel thicket. I slowly raised the 30/06, thinking he was about to bolt again. I squeezed the trigger and he dropped...Celebrate!!
