Often times when talking Bear meat folks respond in negative ways, stating the few times they have had it they found it greasy and unbearable...lol
Well I'm here to tell you quite the opposite. Bear meat is the best meat that comes from our Virginia forests. Its easily prepared and has a taste that better represents beef, but a bit better.
Here is a recipe that I put together that includes a Bear Roast a Crock Pot and few easy ingredients that you will love!
INGREDIENTS:
* Bear Roast-5-10lbs
* Beef Broth
* Red cooking wine
* Bag of Celery- chop into 3-4" pieces
* Carrots- chop into bite sized pieces
* Garlic Bunch- roughly chop (I love garlic so I use a lot)
* Parsley Bunch-roughly chop
* Cilantro Bunch-roughly chop
* 1 Big Sweet Onion-cut into big slices
* Bag of small red or assorted colored potatoes-leave whole
* I added sliced spiral ham slices for flavor
Now we are ready for takeoff
* Add frozen roast and all ingredients to your crock pot
* Turn the crock pot to the LOW setting for 1 hour
* After 1 hour turn the crock pot setting to HIGH for 2-3 hours
* After 3 hours of cooking check internal temperature. The sweet spot is 160 degrees, and once it reaches this temperature turn the crock pot off
* Now you are ready to ENJOY a great Wildgame meal that the entire family will love!
